St. Teresa’s Garden Community Space

I was recently appointed by the St. Teresa’s Regeneration Board to work with the residents of St. Teresa’s Gardens to develop a new community space. Through a series of consultations with kids and parents we developed a vision for a new community space that is focused on providing a safe, engaging, and fun space for kids and parents alike, to gather and play. Sited on the footprint of two recently demolished terraced housing, it is hoped that the newly planned spaces can provide the much needed community spaces, currently lacking on the estate. It is also hoped that the play-oriented community space, created using natural materials, will act as an impetus for future precinct improvement works which are desperately needed to bring the housing standard up to acceptable levels. I will be working closely with residents, local area groups, the Gardai, and the Regeneration board to ensure that the space is ingrained into the community. It is planned that a significant portion of the space will be built by the kids and residents through a series of workshops. More updates, images, and drawings will be posted as the works progress.

The images below show the recently demolished terraces, the Concept Plan, and images from other places representing some ideas for the space.
